If you don't feel like clicking the link, here's the gist -- Activision will be charging for downloadable content on Call of Duty: World at War, but there will be two versions of the DLC: Normal, and 'Day 1 Advantage', which is a 'premium offering'. Obviously, somebody hasn't been paying much attention to the mistakes their primary competition made earlier this year. And yes, mistakes that they corrected once everyone freaked out.
This only helped make it official: I'm not only boycotting Call of Duty: World at War, but I'm DONE with World War 2 games in general. I mean it. Unless I get a free copy, I won't be playing this, or Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, or Velvet Assassin, or any other WWII crap they shovel at us. And I don't care if they make it alternative history (cuz that worked REAL well for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty), or add sci-fi to it (Resistance was overrated) ... doesn't matter. The war is OVER. The Nazi party was defeated. The more we keep supporting these lazy game development decisions, the more the publishers will keep cranking out this shit. So when Call of Duty: World at War is in stores, look for me online. I'll be hosting a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare party. Well, actually, Gears of War 2 will be out by then, so I'll probably be playing that instead. Who's with me?

I would be willing to bet the DLC involces being able to purchase unlockables, so people that are either lazy or cant play 5 hours a day can get some stuff. this is fine, if its not required to play, then some DLC is fine. I view DLC as shit like gamer pics and themes. Its shit that I could care less about, unless its like map packs or something. (which we had to pay for on COD4 as well) but I disagree about making us pay for guns and shit. we already paid 60$ for the game, thats ENOUGH. I am split aboout this one. I think the game is gonna be good. It hink its gonna be fun. It may even be as fun, if not better than COD4. I loved the vehicles from COD3. but i do get tired of garands and mausers. but maybe, just maybe, they will make it good.  | Posted: 2 months ago I had the same hope for Call of Duty 3, but the campaign was horrible, the MP was okay but full of cheaters, and the graphics of both were pathetic. I don't think that their standing on the shoulders of Infinity Ward are going to make much of a difference. Now, I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I'm so sick and tired of the Thompson and the M1 Garand that it's not even funny. Otherwise, you wind up discouraging people new comers.I'm fine with a boycott of this game because I have to many choices this fall and not enough money for everything I want. You all know the usual suspects. Fallout, Gears of War 2, Fable 2 etc, etc, etc Sweatmode and Lord Bling: I will play COD4 with either of you anytime I'm on Xbox Live. | Posted: 2 months ago Mixed reviews for BIA:HH so far. Maybe worth a rent?GameRankings link I'm passing on Fable 2. Didn't play much of the first one. Although, I'm in a bit of a drought for games right now. Rock Band 2 isn't really doing it for me (waiting for the new guitar and drum kit from Guitar Hero World Tour), and I went back and beat Gears on Insane last night. | Posted: 2 months ago I got bored with Fable. Never got bored with Oblivion though. I'll see how the reviews come in, but as of right now, I'm not on board. I don't usually get into hack-and-slashers or RPGs.  | Posted: 2 months ago Has anyone actually played this game yet? Has anyone reviewed this game yet? No. To dismiss this game before anyone has even played it is a bit silly. Jumping on the "I hate Treyarch" bandwagon to easily. Give the game a chance, take part in the beta, even read a review before dissmissing this game as dogshit.I think I will be getting this game along with a number of others. My credit card is going to get hammered. There are far to many good games coming out over the coming month and I for one have no idea how I am going to be able to afford to buy all of the games I want! My essentials are: Fable 2 COD:WAW Fallout 3 Left 4 Dead Gears 2 Thats £200 worth before I even start on games that I want to play but arent essentials. |

| Posted: 1 month ago I think you missed the point, Lazybones. I wasn't trashing the game itself (although I detested the last CoD game that Treyarch made). I was trashing their return to WWII. I'm OVER World War II. It's a step back that I'm not willing to support.Now, for the record, I just got a beta key, and played a few games. It's essentially the CoD4 WWII Expansion Pack. And that's a compliment. The game looks really good, and plays almost exactly like CoD4, which is in my humble opinion, the greatest console shooter of all time. If it were shipping in the summer, I would probably swallow my pride and purchase it. But as it stands now, it's shipping in the most crowded game release time of the year, and right next to Gears of War 2 (which I'm taking that day off of work to play). It's not going to compete with Gears for playing time, at least, not for quite a while. So, will I buy it? I'm hoping that one of my friends at Activision will hook me up, but if not, I'll probably buy it used in December or January. Now I need to go to the store and try to rent Dead Space.
